Hey guys, summer's around the corner and I've been craving a tropical beach vacation. Unfortunately, I can't go anytime soon, but I did the next best thing and made a tropical beach cake. Check out these mouth-watering pictures:
Tropical Beach Cake
Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 box white cake mix
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 egg whites
- 1 can whipped vanilla frosting
- 1 can whipped chocolate frosting
- 1 bag graham cracker crumbs
- 1 bag vanilla wafers
- 1 bag gummy fish
- 1 bag skewers or toothpicks
- 1 bag brown sugar
- Blue food coloring
- Purple food coloring
Instructions
- Bake the cake according to the instructions on the box and let it cool completely.
- Spread the vanilla frosting on top of the cake.
- Crush the vanilla wafers to create sand and sprinkle the crumbs along the bottom of the cake. Use extra crumbs to create sand dunes.
- Add blue food coloring to the chocolate frosting to make an ocean blue color. Spread the frosting on top of the vanilla frosting. Use a spatula to create waves and foam.
- Cut the gummy fish in half and stick a skewer into each fish half. Insert them into the "ocean" part of the cake to create a fun, beachy look.
- Use a toothpick to draw palm trees onto the brown sugar toppers. Add a few drops of purple food coloring and mix it into the brown sugar to create a sunset look.
- Stick the toppers into the sand on the cake. You can also use them as cupcake toppers!
Beach Themed Birthday Cake

- 1 can vanilla frosting
- 1 can chocolate frosting
- 1 bag graham cracker crumbs
- 1 bag small pretzel rods
- 1 bag goldfish crackers
- 1 bag peppermint sticks
- 1 bag fruit roll-ups
- 1 bag skewers or toothpicks
- 1 bag green candy melts
- 1 bag blue food coloring
Instructions
- Bake the cake according to the instructions on the box and let it cool completely.
- Spread the vanilla frosting on top of the cake.
- Crush the graham cracker crumbs to create sand and sprinkle it on top of the frosting.
- Add blue food coloring to the chocolate frosting to make an ocean blue color. Spread the frosting on top of the vanilla frosting. Use a spatula to create waves and foam.
- Use the green candy melts to create palm trees. Use a toothpick or small knife to create the tree trunk and add fine detailing to the palm foliage.
- Insert the pretzel rods into the cake to create a pier. Place the goldfish crackers and peppermint sticks on the pier to create a fun dock.
- Use a scissor to cut fruit roll-ups into small triangles to create beach umbrellas. Use skewers or toothpicks to hold them in place on the cake.
- Decorate the cake with the palm trees and any other beach-inspired decorations you like. You can even add beach towels, beach balls, and other beach accessories using candy, sugar shapes, and other yummy accents.
