Time Schedule for Solid Food
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup pureed green vegetables (green beans, peas, zucchini)
- 1/4 cup pureed yellow or orange vegetables (sweet potato, squash, carrots)
- 1/4 cup pureed fruit (applesauce, pears, bananas)
- 1/4 cup iron-fortified infant cereal (rice or oatmeal)
Instructions:
- Start by offering small amounts of pureed vegetables and fruits once a day, after a milk feeding.
- Gradually increase to twice a day, then three times a day.
- Introduce iron-fortified infant cereal by mixing it with breast milk or formula.
- As your baby grows and develops, you can start offering small amounts of soft, mashed table foods.
Baby Food Schedule
Ingredients:
- 1-2 tablespoons of iron-fortified baby cereal
- 1-2 tablespoons of fruit (bananas, pears, or applesauce)
- 1-2 tablespoons of vegetables (peas, squash, or sweet potato)
- 2-3 ounces of breast milk or formula
Instructions:
- Start by offering one meal a day, preferably in the morning or early afternoon.
- Gradually increase to two meals a day, then three meals a day.
- At each meal, offer a small amount of baby cereal and mashed fruits and vegetables.
- As your baby grows and develops, you can start offering table foods and reducing the amount of purees.
